Vintage 1962 Universal Geneve Polerouter Micro-Rotor Serviced

Vintage 1962 Universal Geneve Polerouter Micro-Rotor Serviced

AU$2,950.00Price

The Polerouter was produced in 1954 by Universal Genève in partnership with Scandinavian Airline System (SAS) by a then 24-year-old Gérald Genta (yes, that one). Universal Genève developed the automatic Polerouter to be more resistant to the strong magnetic fields at the North and South Poles. In fact, the flight route is engraved on the case back. Originally, the watch did not feature a date window, but the example we have here includes a well-placed date window at 3 o’clock. Additionally, this Polerouter Date is powered by the caliber 218-2 movement (with a micro-rotor).

The version you see here is stainless steel with a thick gold cap, far superior to the gold-plated versions, and features a beautiful original white dial and mirrored chapter ring. Overall, this is a stunning watch with a rich aviation history.

This Watch has just been serviced Jan/25 and is keeping great time. A new leather strap has just been fitted.
